Each and EVERY single one of my Black Pearl Coats took me over an hour to make. Some I used from Stacey Mayer's internet site for Lined Art Drawings of Horses. [link]
This is a free site to use if you want to color horses and not buy a coloring book. I printed the picture off of the computer, and then I spent over an hour coloring it with colored pencils. I then rescanned it BACK into the computer, and then photoshopped it, which took another half an hour.
I'm really tired of people saying that I stole my coats. I worked hard on them, and made them the best that I could.
NOT ONCE DID I TAKE A EXISTING PICTURE AND SUBMIT IT WITHOUT ANY CHANGES!
THAT is stealing, what I do is not stealing, it is taking my creativity and adding it to someone else's free use drawing that already exists on the internet which is a public space.
As I have been notified before by rude people about my use of the Breyer Model Nakota as the inspiration of the look for my coat, Snowflake. I spent over 45 minutes in photoshop to bring Howrse my coat Snowflake. In stance only does Snowflake look like Nakota, but I have been told that I am cheating.
When I first started making coats, there was a stipulation in the abuse section of the black pearl that asked: Can you use pictures from the internet? The answer was Yes, as long as you significantly modify and add design to make it your own. It is no longer there.
Since I only take inspiration from existing things, like all artists, I am not stealing, and if anyone wants to message me about my coats, that is one thing, but do not accuse me of stealing because I will report you for harassment. IF my coats are unacceptable they will be taken down by the administrators here on Howrse for inappropriate use.

If this is true then all those people when hunted down on Orkut were in fact doing nothing wrong. I BEG TO DIFFER! See, I would PM her telling her how wrong she is but I believe that counts as harrassment.

It looks very much like a manip instead of someone actually redrawing the image and colouring it.

I know see why so many people dislike Howrse. I highly suggest some of you more popular deviants who get stolen from often check out all the coats. There are a lot and I can't recognise them all.

Ok, please understand I am going to try my best to keep a level head on this subject because as an Artist you have offened me greatly.

I come from a website called DeviantART. We are a community of Artist who love and appreciate each others work and support each other through thick and thin.
Like many Art sites on the internet we are plagued by people who wish to be like us, have our skill and be "popular". These people often take our pictures, which we pour our hearts into, and splash a small amount of colour onto it, call it theirs and repost it on another site.
These situations cause mass upset among the community and people often feel ,as an artist, that they been spat upon and used.
A woman ,whom I am close friends with, has been to court several times just so people do not steal her work.
The point is that we do almost anything we can to protect what is ours. We are a pretty tight-nicked community and if someone cries out wolf we all jump in to help.
So please understand that if you take someones art without telling them and repost it elsewhere it IS generally regarded as theft. even if you don't ask at least give some sort of credit to who originally created the piece.
